Event organiser Emma Kavanagh said they expected the final number to exceed 5000 people for the first day of the show.
"We are really, really happy with the way that things have gone today," she said.
"A lot of school groups and community groups have come along, its been a really good general interest day."
Woodchopping demonstrations by the Western Victorian Axemen Association were a favourite for visitors, alongside the regular dairy industry exhibitions, she said.
Boorcan dairy farm manager Phillip Meade said that the free entry to the Field Days was a bonus.
"We would have come anyway," he said.
"This is a good day off the farm, it's nice to be able to take a break.
"You get a chance to have a chat with the companies that you use, and have a look at the technology that is out there.
"You just have to have the money to spend."
Panmure dairy farmer Paul Moore said he liked the opportunity to socialise and catch up with other farmers.
"It is great to get out and have a look at the variety of new equipment, and check out the different prices," he said.
