ACE Radio station manager Peter Headen said due to "unforeseen circumstances" Matthew Monk and Matty Stewart would no longer feature on Coast FM's breakfast program.
Mr Headen said both were still employed by the radio station.
"The two boys are still employed by us," he said.
"The circumstances are such that they will not be working together on the breakfast show.
"That happens in radio and that happens in life."
Mr Headen said a new breakfast show would begin, called Monkey In The Morning.
"Station followers will be able to hear Matthew Stewart on Saturday afternoon during the football season," he said.
"He'll also be heard on 3YB and Coast FM in other capacities.
"They are both valued employees."
About 1pm on Monday Coast FM announced the changes on its Facebook page. It prompted a massive response with 128 heavily moderated comments in 38 minutes before the post was taken down.
The Standard has contacted Monk and Stewart for comment.
