The 18-year-old top-scored on Saturday (63 off 150 balls) as his side set a commanding total of 6-243 at stumps on the first day of their match against ladder-leaders, the Crabs.
The right-handed batsman, who came in at first drop, said the key was rotation of strike. “I was just looking at trying to build partnerships,” Cozens said.
“I had good ones with Jamie Hetherington (87-run stand), Murray Habel (31 runs) and Daniel Roach (27 runs).”
Anthony Martin was the Crabs’ best bowler, finishing with 5-66 from 27.2 overs.
Elsewhere Panmure bowlers Nathan Shand (4-29) and Tim Bryce (6-24) ensured the Bulldogs were in the hunt for an outright victory against Grassmere, who made just 57 from 29.4 overs.
In reply the Bulldogs finished on 4-68, with Tom Wright not out on 26, to claim victory in the first weekend of round eight.
Woolsthorpe are closing in on victory against Mailors Flat thanks to the efforts of two of its players.
Kyle Patterson did the damage first with the ball for the Warriors, taking 5-33 off 7.4 overs to help reduce the Jets to a modest score of 184.
In reply Mick Mahoney continued his rich vein of form to had another half-century to the 90 and 116 he has made in his previous two matches.
The Warriors need just 58 more runs with five wickets in hand to secure victory at home.
