Warrnambool Airport Shuttle’s return service began at the end of December. It collects passengers from Port Fairy, Warrnambool, Terang, Camperdown and Colac and transports them to one of the two airports.
Owners Lesley-Anne and Ash Schurmann said it offered an affordable alternative for travellers, eliminating swapping between public transport and airport bus transfers and the cost of long-term car parking.
“There’s none of that having to change services,” Mrs Schurmann said. “It cuts that out. People don’t have to drag their luggage around and it’s quicker than you can do it between the train and the Gull bus into Geelong or even into the city and out (to Tullamarine) on the SkyBus. We’re a quicker service which is really nice.
“We’re at the point of still getting our name out there but the people who have used us have loved it, it’s made their lives easier.”
The couple realised the need for a shuttle service after they moved to the south-west from Ballarat. “We’d been doing a bit of travel and looked for a shuttle and there wasn’t one. When we were coming back from one trip Ash said ‘we should do a shuttle’ because his background is patient transport so it’s a nice fit.”

One of their passengers this week was a lady from Heywood who caught the airport shuttle from Port Fairy. “Even though we’re Warrnambool based we’re conscious that it’s nice for the surrounding regions to be able to access us as well.
“It’s good for singles or two people travelling to not have to arrange for family members to do the seven hour return trip (to pick them up) so that’s been really handy for people as well.”
She said they’d tried to keep their prices affordable with a single one-way trip from Warrnambool to Tullamarine costing $70 or $130 return. “We’ve just added a double ticket for two people travelling together that’s $120 one way or $235 return, so that’s a really good price.
“Hopefully it will make everyone’s life easier. We’re excited.”
