Cody made an impressive debut for Warrnambool in 2018, kicking 40 goals in 14 appearances for the Blues.
A wrist injury to Cody in round 13 kept him on the sidelines for five games.
He returned for the elimination final loss against South Warrnambool, kicking two goals despite playing with a wrist guard.
Cody said the injury had now healed and he was keen for the new season to begin.
“It wasn't a break in the wrist, it was ligament damage which the doctor said was probably the worst result with that injury,” Cody said.
“It was still painful in the elimination final but it is feeling great now and I haven’t had to wear the wrist guard for training.”
Cody came from the South East league in Melbourne and said there had been some adjustments needed to play in the Hampden league.
“The main thing is how much wetter it is and the softer grounds,” Cody said.
“I have worked on getting fitter this year because those heavier conditions take it out of your legs a bit more.”
The Blues have had a productive pre-season, with star full-forward Darren Ewing returning to the club.
The arrival of Ewing has Cody eyeing a new role.
“I played a fair bit one-on-one deep forward last season,” Cody said.
“Hopefully with Darren now at the club I can float a bit more and I’d really like to spend more time in the midfield.”
