Cheese tour: Come and visit to hear of the Haldane family’s adventures in establishing the buffalo milking industry as well as their adventures in fishing and farming exotic livestock, such as their Icelandic horse stud. Saturday:
Australia Day: Celebrations to be held in Warrnambool’s Botanic Gardens from 10.30am to 4pm. Celebrations will be held by the Moyne Shire Council at the Hawkesdale Memorial Hall with a free community breakfast at 8am before the official ceremony begins at 9.30am. Celebrations will be held by the Corangamite Shire Council at the Terang Civic Hall from 10am.
Hole-in-one shootout final: The shootout is on at the Viaduct Road green. Registrations open at 11.30am with the junior shootout at noon, followed by the corporate challenge from 12.15pm and presentations at 12.45pm. The shootout is on from 1pm, with the winner of the Kia Picanto to be presented at 3.45pm.
Nippers: Combined nippers carnival at Port Fairy’s East Beach from 10am to 4pm. Events include an ocean swim, beach sprints, flags, a board race, a relay, iron, and a noodle race for under six and seven age groups. Registrations opens 9am. A $10 armband on entry provides kids with food and entertainment all day.
Truck show: The tenth annual Koroit Truck show is on Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Tickets are $10 for adults, with children under 16 free. Wristbands providing unlimited rides are available for kids at $20. Entry for trucks is $40.
Music: Capricorn Records Countdown at Hotel Warrnambool from 3pm-9pm, entry is free. Australia Day Concert featuring Cooper Lower and Flynn Gurry at Simon’s Waterfront, 5pm.
Music: Sundown Sessions at the Pavilion Cafe and Bar from 4pm to 8pm, featuring local DJs Jake Barclay and Adam Bennett.
Book fair: The Lifeline Opportunity Shop Port Fairy will host a special event to celebrate the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown at the Port Fairy Scout Hall on Bank Street from 10am to 4pm.
Surfboard swap: The ninth annual Australia Day Surfboard Swap meeting is on at the Port Fairy sea scout hall from 10am to 1pm. Gold coin donation entry.
Fishing: The Hooked on Portland festival, featuring a fishing competition, cooking demonstrations, a boat show, markets, live music and kids’ entertainment is on at the Portland foreshore from 6am to 6pm. Entry is free.
Sunday:
History: The Warrnambool Family History Group are hosting a Cemetery Walk at 2pm. Meet your guide at the rotunda for a 1.5 hour tour.
Book fair: The Lifeline Opportunity Shop Port Fairy will host a special event to celebrate the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown at the Port Fairy Scout Hall on Bank Street from 10am to 4pm.
Music: Jason Bull is playing at the Warrnambool Bowls Club from 4-7pm; Lost in Suburbia is playing at the Hotel Warrnambool from 3pm.
Cricket: The Sungold Milk Twenty20 knockout competition’s semi-finals and grand finals on at Allansford Oval from 9.30am. Refreshments available, also features $100 for crowd classic catch. Warrnambool and District Cricket Association’s Brierly Christ Church is one of four teams playing.
