Port Campbell Police Senior Constable Liam Cook said the driver, a man in his fifties, had a “micronap” and failed to negotiate a bend on Melrose Road.
Senior Constable Cook said the driver woke up from the micronap on the wrong side of the road and went down an embankment, before losing control of the vehicle, causing it to roll.
He said the vehicle landed, on its side, in the front yard of a residential property.
The driver and a passenger, a teenage girl, were both taken by ambulance to Warrnambool Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Senior Constable Cook said the incident served as a “timely reminder” that accidents can happen to “anyone, at any time” with potentially fatal consequences.
“If you're feeling at all fatigued or impaired, then don't drive,” he said.
Police said the driver will face Warrnambool Magistrates Court at a later date for careless driving.
