The GCA will play Red Cliffs at Canterbury Park today after a big win on Tuesday. A relentless display from the GCA bowlers set the win up in the game against Grampians.
Killarney captain Brayden Buchanan led the way with 4-16 as Grampians was bowled out for 97.
The GCA batting line-up knocked off the runs with a minimum of fuss, before going on to post a total of 270 from its 50 overs. Coach Steve Blacker (78) and captain Paddy Mahony (55) were the stars with the bat.
Grampians were sent back in for 10 overs with GCA taking two wickets and adding to an already impressive points and percentage tally.
Blacker said he was happy where his team sits after two games.
“We are in a good position with the two wins and our percentage is through the roof,” Blacker said.
“Our bowlers have been terrific, we have probably got 12 of the best 15-16 bowlers in the competition up here for the week so the depth is fantastic.
“We have a lot of options as to who we throw the ball too.”
The GCA division three team lost its game on Tuesday to Wimmera-Mallee.
GCA bowled first and kept Wimmera-Mallee to 184, before falling short in the run chase, bowled out for 122.
In other representative cricket news, another big effort with the bat from Brierly-Christ Church’s Campbell Love has led the Western Waves under 16 team to a win.
Love made 90, his second half-century in as many days, in the Waves score of 191 against Falcons.
The Waves were able to successfully defend this score, bowling the Falcons out for 99 in 28 overs.
Mortlake’s Oliver Mahncke had a day out behind the stumps, snaring three catches and a run out.
