Five years ago, Edwards went along to a Mailors Flat Cricket Club meeting alongside her father Stephen and brother Phillip.
She left the meeting with the club secretary title to her name.
Given Edwards is now just 18, her entry into officialdom came at an extraordinarily young age.
“I went to the meeting because there wasn’t anything else going on that day,” Edwards said.
“The person who was secretary didn’t want to do it anymore so they asked me.
“They said I would get plenty of help so I said I’d give it a go.”
As well as being club secretary, Edwards also turns out each Saturday to score for the A grade team.
She has never played the game, and has no desire too, but that doesn’t stop her commitment to the cause. She has mastered the fine art of cricket scoring, with some help.
“My mum (Jodi) taught me how to score,” she said.
“I enjoy doing it although it can get a bit complicated at times.”
Edwards has another close tie to Mailors Flat with team captain Lachie Boyle her partner.
Boyle will have plenty of work to do when play resumes next Saturday in Mailors Flat’s game against Panmure.
The Bulldogs made 339 on day one, thanks to a blistering 83 from 69 balls from Sam Melican.
Chris Woodbridge took 6-123 for Mailors Flat in a big day at the bowling crease.
“It’s a pretty big score to chase but I think we will have a good crack at it,” Edwards said of her team’s chances.
