Players from around the country have been turning up in droves, taking advantage of the sunny and often at times wind-free conditions on offer in early 2019.
Port Fairy, not always known for benign conditions, appears to be putting on a show for its wider golfing audience.
We’ve been lucky enough to see a lot of familiar faces over the start of this year, with members and regular guests filling competition fields and keeping active with social play.
The club has also been overwhelmed by the amount of country and intermediate membership forms being handed into the clubhouse. It seems golfers are falling in love with Port Fairy Golf Links and taking advantage of the extremely affordable member rates.
Competition rounds during the week have been producing good scores and lucrative returns for the lucky players winning the now legendary Superpin 8th hole shoot out.
Club captain Graham King took the honours early on Saturday morning putting it close to the pin and hanging tight, as dozens of groups tried their hand at knocking him out of the running.
The ladies resume the Maureen Leishman Summer Cup this Thursday, January 10. Numbers are already strong with limited tee times available for the returning competition round.
Hope to see you on the Links.
