With only eight days until Christmas, yarding numbers eased substantially. The offering was mixed quality, with not all weights and grades represented. Not all of the usual export and domestic buyers were present, and not all were operating fully. Due to lack of competition, there was a significant price correction across most categories. There were only very few vealers offered, which sold from 200c to 234c/kg. The best of the trade weight steers sold to a weaker trend, to average 248c, while the best of the trade heifers sold from 220c to 250c/kg. A significant price decrease gave restockers an opportunity to step in some light and medium weight trade cattle, which made from 120c to 229c/kg. Feeder steers were in short supply, with the lighter weights selling for 240c/kg. Grown steers and bullocks were again lacking in supply. Prices were reduced with the higher quality C3 and C4 steers, and C4 bullocks sold from 245c to 270c/kg. Grown heifers sold from 245c and 265c/kg, with an outstanding pen of 13 C4 heifers a stand out. Only a few heavy cows sold, with the better D3 cows selling for 190c/kg. The dairy portion were few in number also, remaining firm to make from 165c to 175c/kg. Only two buyers operated bidding on the only two bulls on offer, which sold from 200c to 219c/kg.
