The Merrivale Oval copped a soaking just after players returned to the field from the tea break.
Wesley-CBC was 6-100, in pursuit of 128, when the heavens opened and play was called off.
Wesley-CBC captain Sam McCosh said the arrival of the rain ended an even battle.
“There wasn’t much in it all day,” McCosh said.
“Merrivale got some early wickets and put us on the back foot and then we were able to build some partnerships.
“Ben Dobson and Joe Higgins put on 36 and then Joe and James Dalton had put on 27 when the rain hit. “We were travelling alright but the game was still in the balance.”
McCosh was pleased with his team’s ability to stick at the task after losing early wickets.
He said it’s determination and desire to occupy the crease was impressive.
“When you are chasing those smaller targets around 100-120, you need some handy little partnerships along the way,” he said.
