Brendan John Bushell, 41, of Rollos Road, pleaded guilty in Warrnambool Magistrates Court to intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and unlawful assault.
In sentencing, Magistrate Franz Holzer said the behavior was disturbing and the only option was prison.
Bushell was sentenced to five months’ jail with 122 days already served in custody on remand.
On March 9 Bushell began yelling at the victim because she had not put the groceries away, the court was told.
The victim told Bushell to leave but he approached her and punched her in the forehead with a clenched fist, causing her to bleed.
Then on May 20 Bushell was at a birthday party when he began yelling at a teenage girl.
He told the girl’s friend to leave the room, which she did. He then used a leather belt to hit the victim across the top of the thighs, causing pain.
Bushell’s barrister said his client had anger issues as well as alcohol, drug and mental health problems.
