The Pomborneit veteran tore through Camperdown, taking 6-15.
“It’s my best in twenty20. It can be hit and miss in twenty20 so you take it when you can get it,” Hillman said.
“We opened the bowling with our spin, like most teams do in twenty20, and Clinton Place and myself who are the faster guys came in midway through and put the brakes on and then cashed in after that.”
Camperdown was reduced to 9-87 off its 20 overs with Dave Murphy’s 48 atop the order enough to help Pomborneit to a seven-wicket win.
Hillman, 33, said early rain impacted the morning match – the association had a triple-header Saturday fixture – which helped the Bulls’ bowlers.
The Camperdown-based father-of-two is excited to get back into one-day games after Christmas.
“I prefer longer games, I am a bit old-school,” he said. “But it’s good to break the season up.”
Pomborneit had just one twenty20 match on Saturday.
The league had games scheduled at 10am, 1pm and 4pm.
