The former Old Collegians forward will play with Mininera and District football league club Caramut.
Stapleton said he was looking forward to the new challenge.
“I am actually from Caramut, I lived there until I was five and my father played for the club,” Stapleton said.
“I played under 16s and some seniors there before moving to North Warrnambool Eagles and then Old Collegians.
“James Barling is coaching for a second year and he is a mate of mine so it should be good fun.
“The club has been struggling a bit so I thought it was a good time to go back and help out.”
Caramut finished on the bottom of the ladder in 2018 with just one win.
The club’s last senior premiership came in 1999.
Stapleton consistently hit the scoreboard during his time at Old Collegians, kicking more than 35 goals in three separate seasons.
He was a member of the Warriors losing grand final teams in 2016-17.
