The 30-year-old battled the heat in just his second match of the Grassmere Cricket Association season to take 5-28 from his 19.5 over spell to clean Wangoom up for 131.
“I am pretty stoke to be able to do it because taking five wickets is always good,” he said.
“They don’t come around that often so you just have a few beers with your mates afterwards because they were all a part of it.”
Woodbridge, who believed his best figures are 5-15, said his plan of attack was not rocket science.
“I just kind of came out trying to bowl my best and keep the run rate down, but wickets are always good when they come, and if you bowl tight they eventually will,” he said.
“So I just bowl line and length and put the ball up there to allow it to swing. If you aren’t quick enough to bowl short then don’t bowl short, it is simple.”
Woodbridge received plenty of assistance from teammate and fellow opening bowler Noah Boyle who took three wickets.
Mailors Flat finished the day at 2-80 as it chases 132 for victory. Phillip Edwards made top scored with 43 runs from as many balls.
