- More than 100 fires continue to burn across Queensland, down from almost 200.
- Currently the most serious fire is south of Mackay, with the small communities of Campwin Beach and Sarina Beach under threat.
- Residents there were woken before dawn and told they must leave.
- Serious fires continue to burn elsewhere but are not currently threatening lives or property.
- The community of Gracemere, near Rockhampton, has been saved after 8000 people were forced to evacuate on Wednesday.
WHAT THE WEATHER HAS IN STORE:
- Hot and dry conditions will continue on Thursday.
- Winds have eased but remain fresh and gusty.
- A severe fire danger warning is current for Queensland's Central Coast and Whitsundays district.
IS EVERYONE OKAY?
- There are no reports of serious injuries.
- At least four homes are confirmed destroyed at Deepwater.
- Others have been lost at Finch Hatton, west of Mackay.
- No reports of homes lost at Gracemere.
- Authorities admit they haven't yet got a clear idea of the scale of the damage statewide.
