The Jonathan Brown-coached team – one of 30 from across the state contesting the AFL Victoria Community Championships – will play in the seventh-versus-eighth showdown.
Hampden league president John Ross said a venue was yet to be determined but Mars Stadium was considered a strong possibility to host the May 18 fixture.
“We were originally going to Melbourne but we understand a metro team has pulled out for next year so it’s pulled us back to Ballarat which is great to be honest,” he said.
“We prefer to play country teams and it’s a bit of a rivalry for us.
“It’s only two hours away so hopefully we get a lot of supporters coming up there as well which would be fantastic and we’ve still got ‘Browny’ and his crew coaching so we are looking forward to it.”
Ross said the chance to play at Mars Stadium, which hosts Western Bulldogs’ home games and is the base for TAC Cup club Greater Western Victoria Rebels, would be enticing for players.
“It’s yet to be confirmed but we’re looking at Mars Stadium,” he said.
“We have checked the AFL and TAC Cup schedules and it looks like Mars Stadium is free so hopefully we’ll be able to use it.”
The Hampden league will conduct its annual general meeting on Monday, December 10 at Warrnambool Football Netball Club.
