The teenage leg spinner, who played in the Southern Stars’ first three pool matches, was replaced by fellow Victorian up-and-comer Tayla Vlaeminck for the showcase contest against India, which was played early Sunday morning Australian time.
India finished undefeated in pool B with four wins after producing a 48-run victory over the Aussies, who lost in-form wicket-keeper Alyssa Healy to mild concussion after a collision with teammate Megan Schutt.
Australia finished second and will play a semi-final on Friday.
They will not progress to the final if it is washed out, with the top two teams in each pool earning that right.
Indian opener Smriti Mandhana made 83 as they posted 8-167 against Australia – a total which proved too much for the Southern Stars who were all out for 119 in the 20th over.
Wareham, who is enjoying a whirlwind rise on the international stage, has taken 3-47 at the world cup.
