BMX brings three young friends from across Victoria together.
Knox’s Tash Johnston, Lilydale’s Emerald Blyth and Mildura’s Shakiera Faux, all 12, enjoying catching up a race meetings.
The budding riders are among hundreds competing at the BMX Victoria titles at Warrnambool’s Jetty Flat complex.
The event, which started with practice on Friday and wraps up on Sunday, has attracted competitors as young as two and caters for those in their 50s.
Australian superclass number one Brandon Te Hiko – a four-time junior national champion and 2020 Tokyo Olympics hopeful – is showcasing his elite skills.
Johnston, Blyth and Faux will race against each other.
“(My aim) is to beat more people and try and make it into the finals,” Faux said.
South Australian Jesse Paul, 10, is among the youngsters hoping to make a mark.
He started racing four years ago and is now ranked fourth in Australia in his 10-year-old boys’ class.
