But, still buzzing after his country's first ODI series win in the country since 2009, the bowling allrounder won't knock back a chance to beat Australia again.
The Proteas' quicks were able to muzzle Australia's explosive top order in the 50-over format but Pretorius expects the hosts to fight back in the shortest form.
"Everyone's quite chuffed, we celebrated quite nicely," Pretorius said after the team's training session in Brisbane on Tuesday.
"I don't know what's the reason for just the one (game), but it's another opportunity to play for your country and ... put out the best performance possible."
While the Proteas will head straight to the airport, Australia will use top-level cricket's return to the Gold Coast as a tune-up for a three-match T20 series against India.
Pretorius expects Australia to keep coming hard, tipping Chris Lynn to remain at the top of the order despite his first-ball dismissal when promoted to open in Sunday's decisive one-dayer.
"I'd expect him to open in a T20 match," he said.
"It was a gamble they took to take on the new ball a bit, maybe it just backfired.
"They've still got a lot of match-winning players; they don't just lay down, they come and fight."
South Africa will play a Cricket Australia XI in a T20 in Brisbane on Wednesday before their maiden Gold Coast appearance this weekend.
