Senior Constable Amy Morel of Warrnambool highway patrol said the accident happened about 8.50am after a Barina being driven south on Banyan Street by a mother, who had two young children on board, hit the rear of a Dodge, also being driven south on Banyan Street by another woman.
Senior Constable Morel said no one appeared to have suffered any injuries in the accident but the four, who included two children under the age of 10, were all taken by ambulance to Warrnambool Base Hospital for a check-up.
She believed all four people involved in the accident were local people.
Senior Constable Morel said both vehicles were damaged in the accident and the Barina was taken away by tow truck.
Banyan Street was closed for about 50 minutes while emergency services attended.
