Detective Senior Constable Craig Wastell, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said two burglaries were reported in as many days.
He said unknown offenders entered a vacant Worland Grove property overnight on Friday.
“The house is currently under renovations,” he said.
“Offenders gained entry through an unlocked window at the rear of the property and have stolen tools valued at over $2000.”
A vacant Lava Street property was broken into the following night.
Detective Senior Constable Wastell said offenders gained entry to a garage and then forced open the back door of the house.
“More than $3500 worth of items were stolen including jewellery, money and personal documents,” he said.
“The victims had moved out while the house was under renovations.”
Detective Senior Constable Wastell said the burglaries could be linked and that investigations were ongoing.
“If anyone saw anything in the area of those nights, I urge them to contact police,” he said.
Anyone with information should call Warrnambool police on 5560 1333 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
