Darren Weir has accepted with last year’s runner-up Humidor and Kings Will Dream for the time-honoured race on Tuesday morning, while the Jarrod McLean-trained Trap For Fools was a surprise nomination.
The Moonee Valley Racing Club committee deemed his form didn’t warrant a start in the Cox Plate.
Weir has decided to put blinkers on Humidor and Kings Will Dream when they tackle Winx, who is attempting to win her fourth consecutive Cox Plate and her 29th straight group one victory.
Kings Will Dream, who blundered the start of the Caulfield Cup last Saturday before running fifth, has John Allen on board Saturday.
He drew barrier four, while his stablemate Humidor, who starts from barrier seven, rounded off his preparation with solid trackwork at Terang on Monday morning.
The mighty mare, who is trained by Australia’s leading group one trainer Chris Waller, faces seven rivals and drew barrier six.
