The Western Victoria Photographic Group is a collection of enthusiastic south-west photographers solely formed to assist others keen on their craft.
Group spokesman Perry Cho said the group had already been well received.
“Within a month we have 400 members,” he said. “And a workshop we had planned for November 3 filled up in just 20 minutes.”
Mr Cho said the group’s five founding members all hoped their skills would assist others.
“We wanted to form a group and help people with advice on photography of all fields,” he said.
“Our purpose is to help people for no cost.”
Photographers posting on the group’s social media page are asked to include details of their camera settings.
“We encourage people to add camera EXIF data details to their images to help others learn from it,” Mr Cho said.
“Each member of the group specialises in a different area and has skills to share.”
Mr Cho has also been working on a secondary project with members of the Patient Eye Imaging Group.
The team are offering a dozen ways to view the south-west through a camera lens by producing a 2019 calendar.
Printing of the four-colour press production was courtesy of Breakwater Insurance and will feature a series of images of Warrnambool and the south-west.
All proceeds of the calendar will go to Warrnambool’s Let’s Talk Foundation.
Let’s Talk aims to create an open forum around mental health issues facing local communities.
Mr Cho said he hoped to produce a similar product each year for Let’s Talk.
Copies of the calendar will be on sale for $15 from Monday October 22.
