Unisexcuts owner Sue Cassidy is urging hairdressers to sign up as a ‘Sustainable Salon’, so the program can come to the region.
“We need about 20 salons from across the south-west,” she said.
“South West TAFE is already on board with their salons in the city and at Lyndoch Living.”
The company offer a pick up service to salons every fortnight.
“They collect hair, chemicals, foils, paper, plastic, razors, tools and more,” Mrs Cassidy said. “It will keep so much out of landfill. Nearly all waste can be collected. If each business does their part it will be great.”
All proceeds from re-purposing salon materials are donated to OzHarvest and KiwiHarvest to provide meals to those in need.
