Port Fairy-based upper house member James Purcell revealed he would contest the lower house seat of South West Coast as an independent.
He joins a field that already includes incumbent Liberal Roma Britnell, Labor’s Kylie Gaston, Thomas Campbell from the Greens and independent Mike Neoh.
Labor on Friday pledged $16 million for a new city library and community hub at South West Tafe and earlier in the week the Coalition announced it would fund $1.3 million a year for the operating costs of the Lookout residential drug and alcohol centre and an “open cheque book” for Warrnambool’s habour upgrades.

Here’s a few of the important stories this week.
Have a good week
