Students in the Warrnambool, Moyne and Corangamite schools will be on the count down now that the end of the school year is in sight.
The beginning of the term is also a timely reminder for drivers to slow down while driving through school speed zones.
The zones, which are reduced-speed areas that operate near schools, are in effect on weekdays from now until December 21.
Speed limits outside schools are reduced at the start of each school term to either 40km/h or 60km/h in the morning from 8am to 9.30am, and in the afternoon from 2.30pm to 4pm.
The zones are designed to keep students safe by lowering the speed limit at peak times when they’re travelling to and from school, while taking into account issues such as high traffic volumes, peak school pedestrian hours and school holidays.
Drivers should be aware that police enforce reduced speed limits for the safety of the community.
