The Hairhouse Warehouse Warrnambool apprentice has been crowned apprentice of the year for Hairhouse Warehouse stores Australia wide.
After travelling to Queensland for the awards ceremony, Ms Delaney said the win was still sinking in.
“I’m over the moon,” she said. “It was so surreal, I just couldn’t believe it.”
Ms Delaney, from Port Campbell, was selected from three apprentices across the country.
“It was the first time they’ve had the apprentice of the year award, it makes it a bit extra special because of that,” she said.
Her trophy and framed certificate are now likely to take pride of place at the Warrnambool store.
Ms Delaney thanked her supportive workmates and Hairhouse Warehouse Warrnambool part-owner Jenni Wright
“It’s not all about me. If it wasn’t for Jen I wouldn’t be here,” she said.
For someone who has always wanted to be a hairdresser, Ms Delaney, 23, said the recognition was a dream come true.
“I love making my clients feel pretty. I’m a very hands-on person. I really enjoy curling and cutting and colouring and having a good old chat,” she said.
“It’s also the people that you work with that makes your day good.”
