Two starts ago Robbie’s Star scored an impressive win at Warrnambool before failing last time when up in the weights at his home track on August 23.
“There’s just no suitable races around for Robbie’s Star so we picked out the race at the Valley,” Chow said.
“Our aim has been the Coleraine Cup but it’s been difficult to find suitable races for him.
“The horse is in good shape. I’ve got my fingers crossed we’ll get a wet track at Coleraine. He loves those sort of conditions.”
Darren Weir’s Warrnambool stable has a strong hand with numerous runners on the nine-race program, including speedy sprinter Nature Strip in the $200,000 McEwen Stakes and Red Cardinal in the Chin Nam Stakes.
Weir’s foreman Jarrod McLean saddles up two of his own runners, Romanesque and Trap For Fools, while the Ciaron Maher-David Eustace stable accepted with three runners.
The consistent Naantali runs in a $120,000 race and Pemberley and Mask Of Time compete in a 1600-metre race.
