Shannon is a former member of The Waterboys and has collaborated with international music heavyweights Bono, Steve Earle, Kate Bush and Jackson Browne.
She has forged a reputation as one of the world’s finest accordion players.
Fellow Irish performer Mary Coughlan will also be on the bill, while Scottish band Skerryvore will play for the first time in Australia.
Port Fairy Folk Festival program director Caroline Moore said the strong Celtic influence draws on the festival’s roots.
“We celebrate the music and the icons of folk, acknowledge our historical past and welcome the musicians making their festival debut,” she said.
Australian acts on the bill include Tim Rogers, Mick Thomas & the Roving Commission and Renee Geyer. The festival is on March 8-11 with tickets on sale September 6.
