Terang’s St Thomas’ Primary School will compete in the Netball Victoria Schools Championship on Friday in both the girls’ and boys’ sections.
Principal Ben van de Camp said the students were excited.
“The girls competed at this level last year, so some are heading there for their second time,” he said.
“They are calmer and know what to expect.
“For the boys it’s a new experience altogether.
“A lot have played netball socially at school but have not in competition.
“They are very excited, especially the girls because they learned a lot from last year.”
Van de Camp said some students’ basketball skills would cross over to the netball court and could be an advantage.
“We have a couple of good little basketballers in there and at this level their skills transfer,” he said.
“With ball handling, they’ll certainly excel. A lot of the kids play squad basketball for the Terang Tornadoes.”
