Brian O’Halloran and Co principal Brian Hancock said the gothic two-storey sandstone building was sold after 36 inspections of the property, with potential buyers coming from as far as Queensland and Western Australia.
He said a buyer from Melbourne purchased the 603-square-metres of living and planned to live in it as a private home after restoring it to its former glory.
The Presbytery in Koroit, circa 1880s, hit the market in March this year and was expected to fetch between $800,000 and $900,000.
After expressions of interests closed in April the property was re-advertised with an asking price of $735,000.
“We had a lot of different proposals coming forward,” Mr Hancock said.
“The details of the purchase are confidential but the committee felt that it was the right time (to sell) and we are happy with the outcome of the sale.
“This is a great opportunity for someone to move into a lovely two-storey residence with beautiful features such as the front entrance foyer and stair case.”
Mr Hancock said the Presbytery was “certainly up there” with one of the biggest selling properties in Koroit.
“The St Patrick’s Convent across the road sold for quite a lot some time back but that had been renovated,” he said.
“This is a lovely big old building that is in need of some renovations. It will be wonderful when it’s brought back to its former glory.”
