Kayla Jade Ripohau, 26, of Cobden, appeared in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court charged with possessing and using ice and breaching a community corrections order.
She requested a sentencing indication but that was denied by magistrate Cynthia Toose who said Ms Ripohau either wanted to plead guilty or not guilty.
Ms Ripohau was found with half a gram of ice in her handbag but she claimed it was not her’s and had been put in her handbag by her boyfriend Tim Barden.
She is in the process of obtaining a letter from her boyfriend.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Sandra Skilton said the ice was found in Ms Ripohau‘s handbag and police would be proceeding with the possession charge regardless of whether a letter was produced.
An Office Of Corrections staff member said Ms Ripohau had made little progress on her current community corrections order, doing only eight of 150 hours of community work she has to complete.
That order was imposed after Ms Ripohau was charged with firearms offences and impersonating a police officer.
“She been given an opportunity but has not availed herself of that opportunity,” Ms Toose said.
A lawyer for Ms Ripohau said her client had produced clean drug screens, had already served four months in prison and her compliance with the order was overall fairly good, except for the community work.
The OOC has even gone to the effort of organising transport to assist Ms Ripohau do the community work with little success.
The magistrate adjourned the further hearing of the new charges until August 27, extending bail until a contest mention hearing.
It’s expected that if Ms Ripohau does not engage with the community work she risks facing serving another term of imprisonment on the old charges.
