The association is eager to expand its successful venture into women’s cricket, after last season’s inaugural Renegades WDCA girls cricket competition.
WDCA president Gordon McLeod said the association’s governing body was eager to establish a brand new competition for season 2018-19.
“We are keen to explore the level of interest from women who would have the desire to play cricket and participate in a women’s overage competition,” he said.
“The growth and success of girl’s cricket in Warrnambool is likely to see a further increase in teams and player numbers this coming season and we are seeking information from potential overage females (over 17) to determine the interest in order to progress the sport further.”
Eleven clubs participated in the maiden season of the the girls competition – six in the under 17 competition and seven in the under 14’s – with Nirranda (under 17) and (Allansford under 14) claiming the first premierships.
McLeod said the association is asking women who maybe interested in playing to fill out the survey on the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association Facebook page.
