Warrnambool police Sergeant Cameron Ross said the 26-year-old was arrested on Thursday afternoon after another incident in the Crawley Street area.
He has been charged with the robbery of a vulnerable victim, which allegedly happened at 2.15pm Wednesday in the Parkers car park, east of Liebig Street.
The Crawley Street incident happened at lunchtime on Thursday and has led to a charge of assault with a weapon.
A woman co-accused in her 30s was also arrested, interviewed, charged and released on bail.
The 26-year-old man will appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court today for a bail/remand hearing.
Thursday, 3.30pm: Police have arrested a man and woman in relation to a brazen daylight robbery on Wednesday.
Detective Senior Constable Nick Roberts, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said the two offenders were taken into custody Thursday afternoon and would appear before a bail justice in the evening.
“I’d like to thank members of the public who have helped us find these offenders,” he said.
“It’s been a collective effort and a pleasing response.”
Earlier: Offenders have forced a vulnerable man to the ground and snatched his wallet during a daylight robbery in Warrnambool’s CBD.
Detective Senior Constable Nick Roberts, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said officers were investigating the incident which happened at 2.15pm on Wednesday.
He said a man aged in his 40s was walking through the Parkers car park, located to the east of Liebig Street behind the Kathmandu retail store, when he was approached by a man and woman.
“The offenders have demanded the man’s wallet and when he has not given it to him they have pushed him over onto the ground and taken his wallet from him,” he said.
“They’ve then left the scene, coming out onto Lava Street.”
Detective Senior Constable Roberts said the offenders were of Aboriginal appearance.
