The schedule ranges from an engaging conversation about sexuality and sensuality, to indigenous basket weaving, a sound meditation session, making boomerang shopping bags, a life drawing workshop and more.
The workshops and activities on August 25-26 focus on inspiring and challenging women from all backgrounds. The annual event is run by the Port Fairy Community House and supported by a volunteer advisory group made up of local women who share a passion for their community.
In one session, presenter Kristan Braun will speak about well women and the importance of ‘pressing pause’ in everyday life to reflect on various aspects of wellbeing.
This workshop explores several areas of wellbeing including the stress response, mindfulness, self-care and ways to enhance wellness. The workshop returns in 2018 and highlights skill building, self empowerment and provides women with a chance to reflect on their wellbeing in a relaxed and nurturing environment.
In another, Dr Haidee Benning will speak about ayurvedic medicine, food and seasonal eating regimes for greater health and wellbeing.
The local ayurvedic practioner, osteopath, yoga and medical qi gung practioner will explore why eating seasonally is important for long-term health.
In her session, participants will learn how, what and when to eat to enrich their nutritional habits and general wellbeing, based on thousands of years of traditional eastern medicine for resolving illness and maintaining optimal health.
A separate ayurveda cooking class by Kelli Lavell complements Dr Benning’s workshop, and introduces participants to Ayurveda through food and discovering how simple lifestyle practises can add vitality to their lives.
They will learn how to make vegetarian and gluten-free items and drinks including chai, an energy drink, ghee, mung fasting soup and Kichadi, an Indian dish from rice and lentils.
Your Soul Brand presenter and south-west business woman Karen Foster returns again this year with a new workshop about confidence ‘how to get it, live it and radiate it’. Ms Foster has a personal interest in working with women to help them achieve their professional/business goals with a big focus on self care. Her mission is to help women step into their true power to become their best selves.
The Ministry of Feng Shui’s Salwa Abboud will teach participants about the pure method of Feng Shui and talk about how the ancient method can be used personally, at home, in the environment and in business.
