Despite the fact a win would have kept the Cats’ slim finals chances alive, Price admitted there were few positives in the 19.12 (126) to 8.5 (53) loss.
The first-year coach also told his players they were in for a tough night on the training track.
"There's going to be some wholesale changes,” he said.
"I've gone with security, being a fresh brand new coach, and I went with numbers and what I knew about players until now.
"But now it is my opportunity to do what I want to do and that’s try a few kids out."
Merrivale coach Jason Rowan spoke with a completely different tone.
Rowan, who booted a game-high six goals, said there was a “massive emphasis” on keeping their finals chances alive.
"Look, there’s still a long long road ahead and we have got a lot of work to do,” he said.
"But, we are just doing everything right at the moment and ticking all of the boxes.
"We’re winning games we are meant to be winning and we are starting to create a good feeling around the group.
"The last month or so has just been about character and mateship.
"And you can really see how well the boys are gelling together and really enjoying their footy.
“We can really see a difference among the group."
