Police said the 22-year-old female was heading south on Warrnambool-Caramut Road when she crashed her vehicle about three kilometers north of Woolsthorpe about 8.30am.
The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, walked away without serious injury.
A spokesman for Warrnambool Highway Patrol said speed, alcohol and drugs were not an issue.
“This was a matter of tiredness,” he said.
“The female is an athlete and she had trained in Warrnambool, driven to Melbourne and then trained again in Melbourne. She then had very little sleep before driving back to Warrnambool.
“These are two significant training sessions and two significant drives. The driver has now acknowledged that she was tired and should have pulled over and didn’t.
“She is very lucky to not have killed herself or someone else.”
The spokesman advised long distance drivers to take regular breaks every two hours, stretch their legs, plan their journey and get sufficient sleep.
