The closing date for applications was fast approaching and it wasn’t until some words of encouragement that she made a last-minute submission.
Western Region Netball state titles officer Marg Morgan gave her that gently nudge.
"She coached Warrnambool City and I said to her ‘have you thought about applying?' Morgan said.
“She said 'no I didn't think I would be good enough' and I told her she would be.
"She went home, thought about it and then sent in her application.”
Forth is the coach of Old Collegians’ A grade team in the Warrnambool district netball league.
That factor topped with her junior coaching experience saw her get the nod.
"We have seen her coaching juniors and she has the rapport with them and is very good at getting the point across with juniors,” Morgan said.
"She will definitely do a great job with juniors.
"And it's good to get new people with new personalities and new coaching ideas.”
Co-coaches Raewyn Poumako and Chris van Kempen will again take the reins of the 17-and-under side.
Morgan said it was an easy decision to re-appoint the duo.
“They work well together,” Morgan said. “They both have see the same thing in a different light.”
A coach for the open division and all-abilities teams is yet to be appointed.
The state netball titles will be held at Shepparton on October 6 and 7.
