South Warrnambool Community Association president Bill Hicks said members devised the brochure which features landmarks including the breakwater, the old Lady Bay Hotel, the former Warrnambool Woollen Mill, the South Warrnambool Primary School which is no longer there, original homes and the milk bar which is now a residence.
The brochure will be launched on Saturday, June 23 at 2pm at the Warrnambool Beach Backpackers in Stanley Street and includes an address from resident Phil Carter who will talk about the street origins in the area.
“If anyone’s staying in Warrnambool or at the caravan park and want to go for a bit of a walk they can grab the brochure and walk around south Warrnambool,” Mr Hicks said.
He invited past and current south Warrnambool members and anyone interested in local history to come along to the launch.
