Braydon Tampion, 23, of Johnstone Road, Warrnambool, successfully applied for bail in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Thursday.
His grandfather Alan Tampion gave evidence which swayed magistrate Cynthia Toose to grant bail with strict conditions until July 16.
The magistrate said the allegations against Braydon Tampion were very serious.
Ms Toose said an intervention order was put in place at 4.55pm earlier this week and at 5.09pm Mr Tampion breached the order.
“The circumstances of the offending are concerning,” she said, adding that it was also alleged Mr Tampion had sent the victim a photo of a jerry can and caused damage.
Ms Toose said a combination of reason encouraged her to grant bail, in particular the compelling evidence provided by the accused’s grandfather.
