UPDATE: A FIRE which destroyed a house at Coleraine is not being treated as suspicious.
Detective Acting Sergeant Jarrod Manderson, of the Hamilton CIU, said police attended the scene of the blaze, which occurred about 6pm on Thursday night.
“The fire does not appear to be suspicious,” he said.
A HOUSE was totally destroyed in a fire on Thursday night.
The Coleraine CFA was called to the blaze on the Glenelg Highway about two kilometres on the Casterton side of the town shortly before 6pm.
CFA member Quentin Baudinette said the Coleraine house was fully engulfed with flames when brigade members arrived.
“When we arrived the house was fully involved,” Mr Baudinette said.
He said the occupants of the home had called Triple Zero after they were alerted to the smell of smoke in the ceiling.
All occupants of the home escaped unharmed but the house was destroyed.
Six fire brigades battled the blaze for over an hour before it was extinguished.
Mr Baudinette said the house was gutted and there was smoke damage throughout.
He said he believed the occupants had lost most or all of their belongings.
The cause of the blaze is not known.
