South Warrnambool-aligned Beks, a former TAC Cup and VFL-listed prospect, showed his aerial prowess in the Bottle Greens’ nine-point interleague win over Bendigo on Saturday.
“VFL clubs definitely should be keeping a close eye on him,” Brown said.
“He should be aiming for that. This is a high standard of football, interleague football, and we’re in the top eight leagues in the state, including metropolitan leagues.
“Hopefully he takes a huge amount of confidence out of that and goes back and uses that well at club level.”
Beks, who played forward and pinch-hit in the ruck, said he was humbled to be named the Bottle Greens’ best.
“I wasn’t really expecting to get a game in the first place to be honest, so to come away with that is massive,” he said.
“(Brown) wanted me to just compete as a forward. He didn’t expect anything in terms of numbers.
“He just wanted me to have a crack all game and give Jez Hausler a pinch hit in the ruck whenever he wanted a spell, so I did that for the first few quarters and managed to clunk a few.”
Beks said the Bottle Greens’ attack was threatening but rued inaccuracies, including a 2.9 second quarter.
“It was very danergous. It felt like every time the ball came in we were getting a score, unfortunately most of them were points,” he said.
“We kicked 10 points in the second quarter and if we had’ve kicked 10 of them and put them to bed it makes for a pretty scary side I think.
“It’s good signs, we just have to straighten up next year.”
