The association has a boys and girls team in the under 13s, which will play at Essendon Hockey Centre, an under 15 boys team in Greensborough and an under 17 girls side, which plays at the State Netball and Hockey Centre.
WDHA vice president Jason Macleod said the young players would appreciate the chance to head to Melbourne.
“It's a quite a good competition as the kids get to play against some of the top regional teams in the state and play in their own age and gender groups,” he told The Standard.
“It gives the kids another opportunity to play at different grounds, test themselves at a different level and against different competitions.”
