Jarrod Williams, 20, was located near Lawrence Rocks on Monday when he felt the line tighten:
“It suddenly felt really heavy and the fish started tugging so hard I thought I’d get dragged in,” he said.
Mr Williams, who lives in Drysdale, reeled the giant fish in on his own in just 45-minutes.
“I go fishing up to four times a week, but it’s always snapper, mullet or gummy shark,” he said. “I had never caught a tuna before.
“I thought I’d catch a couple of 20kg ones, so I was pretty stoked. It’s always been a dream of mine to catch one of the big ones”.
