Brown, who won last year’s Melbourne Cup on Rekindling and was successful on Shocking in 2009 has been booked by Flemington trainer Michael Moroney to ride in the $150,000 Wangoom Handicap on the second day of the Warrnambool Carnival.
Paul Webster, riding agent for Brown told The Standard the champion hoop, who is holidaying in Bali with his family, was looking forward to riding in the feature flat race on the middle day.
“Michael is nominating Yesterday’s Songs and Saracino for the Wangoom,” Webster said.
“I’m not sure which one Corey will be riding – that decision will be up to Michael. He’s only got the one ride at this stage.”
“Corey is flying to Warrnambool from Sydney on Wednesday morning with a group of friends before they fly back to Wagga on Wednesday night where he rides on Thursday and Friday. He then rides at the Gold Coast on Saturday.”
Yesterday’s Songs ran fourth in last year’s Wangoom after winning the main sprinting race at the carnival in 2016. Brown has numerous rides over the two days at Wagga including the Chris Waller trained Montauk in the $160,000 Cup on Friday.
