Before the second-tolast round of the A-League regular season, all spots in the finals bar first and second, held by Sydney FC and Newcastle respectively, are up for grabs.

Taking on strugglers Central Coast this Saturday night at AAMI Park, Melbourne City are third and depending on results can hold that spot or drop as low as fifth over the next two weeks.

Holding down third would ensure a home elimination final and with Bruno Fornaroli returning to fitness the home side should have no troubled accounting for the last-placed Mariners.

Vidosic, who left Wellington Phoenix mid-season after falling out with then coach Darije Kalezic, said he was determined to help City go all the way.

The 30-year-old was a part of the Western Sydney side which lost to Adelaide in the 2016 grand final and said he'd call on that disappointment as motivation.

"I want to be a champion. I want to win something," Vidosic said.

"I lost a grand final one time and I hate that feeling.

"That runners-up medal, it's something I've kept and that I've looked at and I want to get the gold medal; the one that says champion on it."

Vidosic said his City teammates had made the mid-season switch as easy as possible, while he's repaid them with five goals in 12 appearances and has been key in their charge up the ladder.

"You just get in and do the best you can and it's been really enjoyable, I can't deny that," Vidosic, who has 23 Socceroos caps, said.

"I think it's easier once it's in season as you're straight into games and there's not much time to think."
