WARRNAMBOOL export Nathan Sobey is bound for the Commonwealth Games.

The former Seahawks championship MVP was named in the 12-man Australian Boomers squad for the Gold Coast competition on Wednesday morning.

Sobey, who has represented his country in recent FIBA World Cup qualifiers, will join his Adelaide 36ers teammates Mitch Creek and Matt Hodgson on the national team.

The April competition marks basketball’s first appearance at the Commonwealth Games since 2006.

Sobey will suit up for Adelaide in the second of its semi-final series games against defending NBL champion Perth on Friday night.

A win would guarantee the 36ers a berth in the best-of-five grand final series.
