WARRNAMBOOL equestrian rider Jamie Kermond capped off a successful debut at the prestigious CSI 5 star indoor jumping event in Hong Kong on Sunday, with a fourth place finish in the grand prix.
Kermond also had the thrill and honour of being the leader at one point in the competition, until eventual winner, regarded French rider Patrice Delaveau took the lead. The Frenchmen cleared the course in 37.81 seconds, with Kermond clearing in 41.35 seconds.
Kermond praised his horse Napa in a post on his Facebook page.
“He was a star all week, he tried his butt of for me,” he said. “He proved his ability to a lot of people and I do believe he wasn't quite 100 per cent, so I think we have some improvement in us over the next month or two.
In the same post he reflected on the experience.
“It was so special coming straight from Australia and with everyone at home getting around us, it was an amazing feeling,” he wrote.
“Hopefully this can open some doors and more Aussie based riders will get the opportunity to ride in Hong Kong or shows like it.”
